Snap! Just In Time for Baby Shower Season--The Coolest in Baby Essentials

Date: 06/22/2007

Baby shower season approaches! According to federal statistics, the stork makes more U.S. deliveries in August and September than in any other months. For all those impending showers, what gifts will make for the coolest in accessories, setting them miles apart from run-of-the-mill plain standards in burpies, bibs, onesies, binky clips and, most important of all, Woobies? (For the uninitiated, "Woobie" is defined below).

Fortunately, the Vintage Vogue collection from Sweetpea Baby has arrived, bringing the chic, funky and fabulous to these normally drab items. Fun colors such as pink lemonade, dark chocolate and lime squeeze are arranged in eye-catching retro patterns of polka dots, stripes and solids adorning soft, cuddly fabrics such as cottons, minky sherpas, and silky satins.

"I have attended many children and baby trade shows," says Tana Hallows, owner of Sweetpea Baby, a new division of My Little Sweetpea. "I have seen many accessory lines and really wanted to do something different, that would set these items apart. The Vintage Vogue Line is the result."

This is certainly true. Check out the burpies, made of cotton and sherpa, available in 12 different exciting color combinations and 2 different sizes. Or the bibs--you've never seen any like them--available in 6 different styles including retro-radius ice blue, gumball dot raspberry truffle, and retro-radius cherry fresh lime.

The binky clips are a chic new way to keep baby's pacifier clean, available in over 20 different styles including heavy duty, washable grosgrain ribbon. The binky clips come in 16 different exciting patterns of fabulous dots, checks or stripes.

The line also includes onesies, in ice blue, dark chocolate or lime squeeze for boys, and pink bubble gum, dark chocolate and lime squeeze for girls.

But the centerpiece of the line is something called Woobies. Tana Hallows defines a Woobie as a "soft cuddly thing; a security blanket; a blankie, a favorite toy or object." To a baby, a Woobie can be the most important possession he or she has through infanthood, kept softly close against their skin day and night.

The idea for the Woobies--and the name--comes from a family tradition. Hallows' husband's grandmother made and gave each of her grandchildren custom-made blankets, which she called Woobies, when they were born. Of course Hallows' own children each got one also, and they have been the babies' prize possessions.

Woobies are super-soft, made with minky sherpa and silky satin, available in 11 designs and 2 different sizes. The regular size is 30 x 45, but mini-Woobies are also available in a 15X15 size.

3 different Woobie styles are available. Style #1 is crafted with one side minky sherpa, and the other side funky & fabulous cotton prints and matching 2 inch print binding. Style #2 consists of two sides of luxurious minky sherpa, with a 2 inch funky print binding. Style #3 is made with one side minky sherpa and the other side silky satin with a 2 inch silky satin binding.

Vintage Vogue Woobies are unusually high-quality--there are many blankets with a silky border and back, but it is unusual to see them coordinated with colorful stripes or polka-dot designs and other fabric such as sherpa.

My Little Sweet Pea began as a hobby for Tana Hallows--a line of silver jewelry made for her own babies, family and friends. Demand increased, and the jewelry line went into local stores, and eventually became a national product sold in baby stores and boutiques throughout the country. Hallows has now expanded Sweet Pea line of baby accessories to include the unique Vintage Vogue collection.

As baby shower season approaches, the Vintage Vogue line will insure that this year's babies will be the coolest, funkiest, and hippest around! All items are now available for purchase online at www.sweetpeababy.com.
